TODDLERS VS. THE EASTER BUNNY

In this corner is a six-foot tall, freaky rabbit who can talk and walk on two legs. In the other corner are about 50 three-foot tall toddlers, who can't talk (much) and for most walking on two legs is a recent development. I don't know who thought up the concept of the Easter Bunny, but I'm guessing it wasn't the parent of a toddler.

We took Noah to his first Easter egg hunt at a park in Sherwood. Noah's good friends Linnea, Claire and her brand new brother Sawyer, Aiden, Alexis and Sienna were all there along with tons of other kids.

The hunt was broken into age groups which I'm really glad about because if all the kids ran at once, emergency rooms would have overflowed. The way it was supposed to work was for the Easter Bunny to go around to each of the age group areas and yell "GO!" When he got to our group you could hear shrieks and watch kids beg to be picked up by any adult who happened to be standing next to them. Noah was no exception.

We led him around picking up plastic eggs and pinwheels. It was hard to get any good pictures because there were just too many people and dogs running everywhere. Here are the best ones I got:

All in all it was fun for the adults, but the kiddos are probably permanently damaged. It was great to see our friends and make plans for future get-togethers. My girlfriends rock and I don't know what I'd do without them.

Noah is sacked out and I'm going to take advantage of that and crash myself. I'm hoping that Noah doesn't dream about a giant rabbit tonight.

Yippee! I remembered to charge the camera battery!

Today was a tiring but really great day with Noah. The weather continues to be good enough to spend a lot of time outside. He is really fascinated with the leaves that are budding on the plants we have on the deck. He is very gentle with them and looks at them from every angle.

I took a lot of great pictures today so I'm going to post quite a few and keep my comments to a minimum again. Here are some other good pictures from our time outside today:

Another fun thing that we did outside today was play with his trucks. He likes to try rolling them on different surfaces.
I tried to take a video with my camera and I'm going to see how it works on this blog page. Hopefully it won't blow anything up. OK - sometimes the blog is a pain to work with.

I'm still stumped on the formatting of these pictures and videos. Dragging them from place to place is hit or miss and getting the text to wrap correctly seems to not be consistent. Bear with me as I try and figure this out.

OK, I'm ready to crash with a good magazine and watch the Trailblazers beat the Lakers on TV.

Kate - this last one is for you - I know, I know. I'm such a dork!

I swear, if my head wasn't attached to my body, I'd lose it.

Tevya's To-Do & Reminder List:
  1. Remember to charge the camera battery overnight.
  2. Buy a second camera battery for times I forget to charge the first one.
  3. I forgot what this one was supposed to be....
  4. Oh yea, I remembered. Buy a case of bubble solution because I never, never want to run out again.
Sorry, no pictures today. I forgot to charge the camera battery and by the time I wanted to take pictures this afternoon, there wasn't enough time to charge it.

Not much to report. Noah took a really good nap and was in a great mood this afternoon. We blew bubbles on the deck and everything was going well until I realized that we were out of bubble solution. Toddler tantrum extraordinaire. Truly impressive.

I missed having my camera today. I've gotten used to it being within reach most of the time.

Have a good evening and I'll post pictures tomorrow. Unless I forget. =)

Noah and I had a really fun day today. I took a lot of pictures, so this blog is going to be a bit different. Instead of me "talking" a bunch, I'm going to post my favorite pictures of the day with short captions and a bit of commentary. Here goes:

As I've mentioned before, Noah likes to hang out sans clothes. I've found a bit of a compromise. He's happy running around without his shirt on. So this first pic is Noah looking cute in nothing but jeans...Once he let me put a shirt back on, we decided to spend some of the afternoon cooking. Noah loves it when I sit on the floor with him and let him stir batter and help put the liners in the cupcake pan. We made muffins and brownies. Here are some pictures of him helping.

Noah loves to climb into small places. He has various places around the house that he considers his hideouts. Behind a chair, behind the futon, under a pillow, and now in a box. I had dumped out the box of blocks and he figured out how to climb in. Who needs Jack when you have a Noah in the box?

So there is our day in pictures. He is such an awesome kid. Full of laughter, curiosity, affection, and so many other things. I can't believe how full of love my heart is for him. Sometimes I think it will burst because I love him so fiercely. No matter how bad my day is going, he always finds a way to put a smile on my face.

I'm off to crash for the evening. Noah is sound asleep and hopefully will stay that way for a long time tonight.........

The veggie and herb seeds continue to grow. Pretty soon I'll have to plant the pole beans because they are growing out of their little pots. I think they really liked the warm, sunny days we've had since Saturday. Tomorrow is back to rain and 50's, but it was sure nice while it lasted.

We are working with Noah on teeth brushing. We thought that if he watched Kris and I brush our teeth he'd try to imitate us. It's kind of funny watching all of us brushing at the same time. Noah likes holding the toothbrush under the running water and then sucking it off the bristles. For now, I think that counts as brushing teeth.

Sorry, short post today. Worlds worst headache. I'll try and post more tomorrow.

Have a good evening.

This isn't trick photography. It really was this warm today. It felt more like August than April and it was awesome! I spent part of the morning working outside planning where all the vegetable plants will go when they get planted. I can't wait until that actually happens.

Noah had his 15-month check up this afternoon. He now weighs 24 pounds and is still 29.75 inches tall. He is hitting all the milestones that the doctor was looking for and received a clean bill of health. I put off getting his shots until next visit because I think he might be coming down with a tummy bug (lots of nasty diapers today) and I just didn't want to risk making anything worse.

When Kris got home he took Noah out on the deck and they blew bubbles. There was hardly any wind today so the bubbles lasted forever. Here are some fun pictures...

I have to explain the next picture. Remember in yesterday's blog I told you how Noah kept trying to drink the bubble liquid? Well, I guess I forgot to tell Kris to be on the lookout for it and Noah caught him off-guard. Kris pulled him up right as Noah was going in for a sip. It was super funny. And yes, I checked again. Still non-toxic.

I'm keeping this short today because I'm going to head back outside and look at the bright moon and stars. The sky is so clear and it is still nice and warm. There are lots of frogs croaking and it sounds like there might be an owl somewhere close.

Have a good evening!

"It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood, a beautiful day in the neighborhood, won't you be mine, won't you be mine, won't you be my neighbor?" Mr. Rogers sang the perfect theme song for our day. What amazing weather! We hit 70 today and it was like everyone came out of hibernation. The neighborhood was buzzing with kids playing, people working in their yards, the smell of first barbecues for the season. In he morning Kris did some weed whacking and general yard stuff. Noah really wanted to help and hauled around a watering can that is almost as big as he is. The kid has muscles! He had fun pushing around the patio furniture and trying to figure out why I kept telling him that he couldn't take all the dirt out of the plant pots. We brought out a bunch of his toys, spread out a blanket, and had snacks outside.

After lunch and a nap (alas, not for me, but for Noah) we headed back outside to blow bubbles. I wish I could have caught Noah chasing the bubbles on film, but I didn't want to get the camera slimmed with bubble goo. By the time we were done, both Noah and I had bubble gunk in our hair, on our clothes, and I'm pretty sure in Noah's mouth. I checked - it's non-toxic.

Noah wanted to be a big kid and sit in the patio chairs. He thought he was pretty cool sitting in the big chair. Here's a good picture of him looking oh so cool...

We hit a major milestone today. Our little boy told me "no" for the first time. Seriously. I've been dreading this moment since he started babbling all those months ago. I loved it when he first said "mama" and "dada" and "hi", but there is something ominous about the first time you hear "NO" pop out of your precious child's mouth. And he kept saying it. Over and over. At first it was cute, but when I told him to put away his snack and he said "NO" I knew that things were going to change. He now has THE POWER. Major parental moment. Maybe he'll forget how to say it by tomorrow morning. I can hope, can't I?

It's been a fabulous weekend. Let's hope for a fabulous week..........

More tomorrow.
